Dr. Dominic Lobo – Founder and Main Trustee of Ramona Foundation
Dr. Dominic Lobo, the visionary founder and main trustee of the Ramona Foundation, has dedicated his life to providing medical aid to the underprivileged, particularly focusing on eye care. The Foundation, established in March 2018, emerged from a deeply personal journey. Dr. Lobo himself suffered from keratoconus, a degenerative eye condition that caused poor vision from a young age. When his condition was finally diagnosed, he could address it effectively, gaining clarity in his sight and his life's purpose. This experience fueled his desire to assist others battling vision problems, especially those from marginalized communities.
Growth of Ramona Foundation
Under his leadership, the Ramona Foundation has grown steadily, collaborating with organizations like St. Luke’s Medical Guild, local parish offices, and rural outreach camps. Over six years, the Foundation has supported over 5,000 eye surgeries, covering conditions such as cataracts, retina problems, glaucoma, and LASIK. While its primary focus has been Mumbai and surrounding areas, smaller initiatives have been conducted in Pune and Goa. Plans are underway to expand nationally, leveraging the Church's extensive network to deliver services across India. True to the Christian spirit, the Foundation serves people from all communities, with a particular focus on the Christian community due to its use of Christian platforms for outreach.
Ramona Foundation: to bring hope, health, and healing to those in need.
Through these initiatives, Ramona Foundation aims to set a benchmark in compassion-driven healthcare and social justice, creating a ripple effect of hope and change for the most vulnerable.
